  2. Inspect the Water Meter: Remove the cover on your water meter. If your meter has a flow indicator (a small rotating triangle), watch it for a few minutes to see if it moves. If it does, there may be a leak.

  3. Check Meter Readings: If your meter doesn't have a flow indicator, write down the numbers and check them again in an hour. If they've changed, there could be a leak.

  4. Locate the Leak: Common sources of leaks include toilets, outdoor spigots, and irrigation systems. Given recent weather conditions, check for cracked exterior plumbing pipes. If you can't locate the leak, consider calling a plumber before the problem worsens.
